FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT IS YOUR TRAINING METHODOLOGY?

Ruff-Roadz is committed to using the best, most effective and humane training techniques.  We do not have a “one size fits all” training protocol, as every dog is different in regards to genetics, characteristics, traits, personality and behaviors.  Just like humans, dogs also carry their own baggage so we take each individual dogs history into account before we begin training.  We follow scientific and evolutionary evidence based training methods and use our experience and knowledge when beginning a training plan.  We implement CCPDT LIMA (LIMA) Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive Effective Behavior Intervention Policy and adhere strictly to this policy.  This means that we are experienced in using both reinforcement and punishment to train and modify dog behavior and we do it in the most humane way.  Our training is fun, playful and we make sure that your dog will always feel their best while working with us.

ARE THERE ANY CASES RUFF-ROADZ WILL NOT ACCEPT?

We're not currently accepting Board & Train dogs until we have a better facility to do so. We feel that the best way to safely modify a human-aggressive dog’s behavior typically begins with a board and train stay, followed by weekly training with owners for an extended period of time.  As soon as we're able to take Board & Train clients, we will see human aggressive dogs.  Unfortunately though, this means that for now we’re unable to take human-aggressive dog cases (dogs attacking humans/aggression towards owners such as bites causing deep punctures) and dogs who have attacked other dogs multiple times causing deep punctures.

FYI - Puppy "mouthing" and nipping is not something we categorize as aggressive and we will absolutely work on this behavior in 1:1 sessions.
